One of the things that I have a problem doing is making buttons, they are a pain in the behind and usually take me longer to make than it is worth, but then I was stumbling along, like I do when I get bored and found this.
Not bad eh?
Simple and gets the job done….
Brilliant Button Maker
I was browsing Crestock the other day and noticed that they have a Free Photo of the Day.
This is a piece of stock photography that they give away hoping to grab more people and make more money. Maybe it will work for you
If not, add the free photo feed to your reader, maybe you will find something that you like.
Today I spent a couple of hours looking for a good source of photos for different uses. I would like to be able to put photos in a lot of “blog” posts on various sites and other projects.
There is only one good and worry free way to do this. Stock photography. Sure most of the pictures that I will be using I could get on my own, but the headache involved would be huge. For the $5 or so per image I think that it is worth it.
There are a lot of stock photography sites out there, the one that I finally picked had a 10% refund for your first bunch of credits, and the more that you buy the bigger the deal. There are also a subscription plan that you can download a as many images that you need. This would be the best option for companies or individuals that have a large need for photos.
Me, well I have enough credits for about 100 pics and that should do me for a couple of months. If I am making money then I may just get a sub subcription. Oh yeah, the one that I am using is CreStock as suggested by ChrisG
It will be a good method to find out if the images will help with the conversions and the readership.
One of the best things about getting started with cake is the scaffold variable. But once you get the associations, and the tables ready you can use bake to set up all of that boring stuff. Like the initial controllers, models and views.
To take full advantage of bake however you need to use the console, and to set up that you have to watch this.
So like I was saying before I have been playing around with CakePHP, and I thought that it would be a lot better if I could simply install a development server/set-up on my own desktop, rather than installing Cake on a domain that I have had parked.
To do this I installed WinLAMP, I am not sure what would have been the best LAMP, but I have used this one in the past so I gave it a shot. If you have a standard set up on your Windows machine it is a very easy process to set up the server.
Then I installed the ALPHA installation since I figured that the apps that I am currently developing will not be released into the wild till well after the current Cake development cycle.
I think that entire set up took me about an hour, and then I fired up phpmyadmin and started to build my database for my first CakeApp
If you have used cakephp or starting to play around with it, let us know what set you have for testing. Or if you know of a better LAMP set up for windows post a link here to point us in the right direction
