Time for a Trip

It is getting to be that time again.  Time to think about another trip.
With Christmas fast approaching, deadlines piling up and winter coming, it is time to start thinking about getting away from here for a week or 3.  We have been talking it over about where we want to go, and what we want to get out of the trip itself.  I have been following Kim and Rob over at  and thinking that one of their trips would be something fun to emulate. It would be different from the last few that we have went on.  Vegging in DR, shopping in NYC, visiting family in Florida and of course Disney.  These were fun, but I think that I need to go somewhere else and see something else.

Punta Cana 2008

So now the question is where?

I am thinking about a 2 week tour of the Greek Isles, or maybe San Francisco.  Or Spain.  There are a couple of that drive where we go.  I live on the Atlantic Coast of Canada, and don’t want to go too many time zones away.  That might actually negate San Fran from the list.

Timezones are not a big deal for a long trip, but since I figure I will only be able to get away for a week at most I don’t want to spend time recovering from Jet Lag in either direction.  3 time zones I think are max, maybe 4.  So that really limits me to the west coast of Europe and the entire eastern seaboard of NA.

Where would you go?

We really have no idea where we want to go, but we do know that we want to have a blast, and there has to be beaches and warm weather.  the trip is scheduled for February.  So leave us some suggestions and links so that we can get this party started.  Once I know where and when it will be just the motivation that I need to get all of the crap that I have on my plate now DONE.

Cheers,

JM

About Jeff
I am an engineer by day and internet marketing tinkerer at night. I started playing around with internet marketing 5 years ago and have been making a profit for the last 4, with no more than 4 hours a week on average and usually much less. The profit is not enough to quit the day job he loves, but enough to buy the toys he wants.

  1. OK, without sounding like a big snob, I’ve actually lived in all three of those places (well, it was mainland Greece, but still) and can say, without a shadow of a doubt, that San Fran is your best bet. The other two places will be cheaper to stay in at this time of year, but with the crappy currency exchange and the fact that a lot of the “attractions” and festivals happen during the spring, I think you might actually enjoy SF more.

Plus there’s so much to see/do in SF for free annnnd the BART is pretty cheap and can take you all over the Bay Area. You KNOW that you’ve always wanted to see beautiful downtown Berkeley in the winter! The weather’s not great and you defs won’t be on the beach (hell, San Franciscans don’t even go to the beach during the summer), but it’s never great, and it’ll be a divil of a bit nicer than winter here!

Happy trip-planning and lemme know if you want some more unsolicited advice on Cool Shit To Do And See.

Good try, but you sound like a snob

So you are voting for the SF eh? I was thinking that the jet lag might get to me, but after more thought it is not a big deal getting there, it only hits when you come back.

I work with a guy who worked in Berkley for years, so on your advice I am going to have a chat with him. Maybe he can come up with some great ideas on what to do there in the middle of the winter.

The beach is not a big deal right now, it is more about getting out of the dreary Maritime winter in the middle of it. Break up the season….

    Thanks for the comment.
