My soon to be first VB hack

I am now thinking about creating a hack for VB that will work like digg, but not nearly as well :)

It basically is going to allow members to submit articles to the site, then vote on them.  They will be ranked in a way that will allow new articles to be placed near the top, basically it will be ranked by the rate of positive votes rather than totals.  I will have the option that will allow people to see what were the top vote getters.

Most of the code will not be a big issue, but integrating it into VB is going to be interesting, also setting up the mod of submissions.  Not really sure how this is going to work, but I am sure that I will be able to figure it out eventually.  I will be releasing it near the end of September.  Then after a BETA of a month or two on my site then I will release it to the public.  It will be a FREE product, and I will not really be supporting it too much since I don’t have a lot of time.  There will probably be two links associated with the product, one to this blog and another to my VB site.

If you have any questions, suggestions, etc let me know.

The profit is not enough to quit the day job he loves, but enough to buy the toys he wants.

[...] My VB Hack is now ready for BETA Posted in Forums, Website Coding by capebretoner Wednesday August 30, 2006 at about 12:39 pm Hey there everyone, as you have probably read before I have been working on my frist true VB mod/Hack, and it is now ready for BETA testing, so go and check it out, it is called TPL News.  Basically it is a site where registered users can submit links that they think are interesting.  A mod then reviews them to make sure that they fit the theme of the site, (this may be changed later) and then other users vote on them.
