Many people that get into search engine optimization usually have two choices, whether to go with the white hat route or black hat route.  In search engine optimization there are many ways to reach your goals, some faster than others and some easier than others.  Here are some tips on white hat vs. black hat SEO.

White hat SEO is using generally approved techniques that benefit your web visitors and are helpful to search engines.  White hat techniques include creating fresh and unique content for your web sites, linking with other web sites to grow your web’s page rank and creating interesting blogs to attract spiders and web visitors.

Black hat techniques are not illegal techniques per se, but they are usually unapproved by search engines and are not particularly helpful to your web visitors.  Black hat techniques are used to rise in the search engine index fast and to get lots of traffic to web sites in order to monetize a site as much as possible.  Some black hat tactics include creating thousands of web pages with very little content to bring as many visitors as possible to your site.  Create link farms to raise your page rank and for your site to look important to search engines, to redirect visitors from one site to another without properly informing your visitors and creating splogs, or spam blogs to draw spiders to your site.
