The Best Way to get Links

If you're new here, don't forget to subscribe to my RSS feed. You will regret it if you don't.

Thanks for visiting! See you again Soon!!!

I am sure that you have heard about all of these great schemes that you can get links from.  Even I have told people about Link Vault, which, don’t get me wrong is a great “tool”.  But that is all it is, a tool in your tool box.  Another thing that I am sure that you have heard is that for SEO the big new thing is content.  Well I suppose that it is not all that new, but it is something that is getting more and more important for SEs, and it is only going to get even more importatnt as all of the major search engines get better at weeding out duplicate content.

So why am I mentioning both linking schemes and content in an article talking about how to get links to your site?  Well that is because there is only one sure-fire way to get people to link to your site for the long term, and that is to write GREAT content.  It can’t be just good, it has to be great, it has to be so great that when someone is looking for information online, or if they are looking for a reference that they are going to take the time to both bookmark it and if they have a blog or website they are going to link to it and tell others to check it out.

This is not an easy thing to do, but it is what you need to do.  So basically you have to pick a subject that you know a lot about.  You have to know enough about that subject to teach others, and if you can teach someone that has no experience in that subject you have the background necessary to build a website around it.

Like I said in the first few lines, the big thing these days in the webmaster community is content, but remember this, 10 GREAT webpages on a small website will do a whole lot better than 100 good pages, or 1000 medicore pages.

That Didn’t Last Long

Well I thought that I was going to take a break until April. Well I got bored, not that I don’t have anything better to do, but it is still crappy out. However the time off did help me realize that if I think long term everything will go much smoother. So here is the plan, develop what I have, spend all money I make in advertising and enjoy. I needed the break in the first place because I was getting myself freaked out over basically nothing, so now I am going to limit my work time and spend more leisure time.

The project that I am working on at the moment, and my last new project till the spring, is my small hosting service called Bluenoser Hosting. I am basically going to offer basic and starter packages with PHP etc just to cover my costs, and maybe even pay for my websites server space. When I finially have the site complete I will post an advertisement for it here.  It is going to be a very simple site since I want to make it as easy to use as possible.

After that it is going to be on to my two arcades, maybe I will actually make some money on them instead of it simply costing me BW :)

And as aways I will be posting anything interesting that I read here, and will continue to work on my directory lists

Excercising your Pet?

If you have a dog or cat, it is important to make sure that they receive enough exercise or activity each day. Many people have very hectic lives and can sometimes neglect their pet’s health. Here are some tips to make sure that their dog or cat gets enough exercise each day.

Many pets need activity each day. Most dogs need to go for a walk at least 3 times a day. A normal walk should be from 10 to 20 minutes each time which equals at least a half hour of outdoor activity each day.

Many people think that if they take their dog out for a walk they are done, not true, your dog needs lots of attention each day and playing with your dog or showing it attention will increase the chances that your dog will live a happier and healthier life.

Cats also need activity. Cats don’t need to be walked, but they do need to be played with and give attention too. Cats that don’t get lots of activity tend to become fat and out of shape. So if you have either a cat or a dog, make sure they receive enough activity and attention each day.

Time for a Break

Yeah I know, I just said that I was getting into some hosting.  Well things have changed, I think that I am starting to spend too much time working, between online and off that I need a break to sort some stuff out.

So I am going to log off for a month and see how I feel after that. However that doesn’t mean that I am not going to support what I have going right now, naw I will still be checking my emails, my directory for new submissions and such, just not actively developing them, but most of all I am going to stay away from the forums.  Forums are the biggest time killers ever.  I spend just about 2 hours a day just browsing the forums on my list to figure out what is going on, where I should stick my foot in to test the water and what not.

If anyone does have to get ahold of me for any reason simply email me at bluenoser{a}bluenoser.net and I will be sure to get back to you.

So long for now, and I hope to be back stronger than ever…or maybe I will decide that I like having a life better :)  We shall see, and I will let everyone know my decision in April ;)

My New Direction

At this point in my Webmaster Career I have decided to steer away from eCommerce in offline goods. I currently don’t have the room to warehouse any interesting products that I would enjoy selling. Now you are going to tell me, “What about drop shipping?”.

Well the fact is if you are going to make any money using drop shipping you are going to have to spend much more time than I have at the moment. It is not as easy thing to get into and there are a lot fo scam artists out there that are just trying to get your money. Basically that is all that I figured out in the last year of my research into the subject.

Now I am not saying that you can’t make money at it, I am just saying that it is not what I am looking into getting into at the moment.

So what am I getting into. Well developing sites, and selling them. I have a couple that I am working on that are going to be my masters and then in about 6 months I am going to make copies, market the copies and sell them in another few months. It is a bunch of work, but with the resulting advertising opportunities that my master site will offer me will allow me to make a modest income that will support my business. I don’t plan on quitting my day job anytime soon, but this will be good drinkin’ money :)

Another one of my projects is going to be a very small hosting business. This will be mainly for friends and family and be very small. I tried the hosting route once before, but it is a lot of work, and the mistakes that I made hurt. So I am going to get into it again, knowing my mistakes and learning from them.

When my Hosting company is ready I will announce it here, it will have the Bluenoser name like all of my other main sites

For now, talk to you later
